What effects does unpaid leave have on my retirement provision?
In the case of unpaid leave lasting longer than one month, there are basically two possibilities: In the case of unchanged continuation, all benefits (old age, disability, death) remain insured in the same amount. In such a case, the insured persons pay both the employer and the employee contributions. In the case of continuation of the risk insurance, the old-age savings process is interrupted, but the risks of disability and death remain insured. In such a case, the employer decides whether the costs are shared or whether you, as the employee, have to pay all contributions.
The conditions for unpaid leave with your employer are set out in the pension plan.
