Can I withdraw my entire retirement provision assets in the event of emigration?
The amount that you can withdraw in the event of emigration depends on the country you are moving to. If you are emigrating to an EU or EFTA country, you can withdraw only the super-mandatory part of your retirement provision assets. You must transfer the mandatory part of the departure payment to a vested benefits account in Switzerland. If you are emigrating to a third-party country, you can withdraw your departure payment in full. Depending on your destination or tax situation, payment to a Swiss or a foreign bank account may make more sense. In these cases, it is possible to submit an application to the BVG security fund in order to have the mandatory part of your departure payment also paid out in cash.
